Core Blog and posts
The author’s name and a link to their posts
wp="post-author" On a blog with several authors, readers see who wrote a post and can open all posts by that author. Nothing to set up: the author is the WordPress user who published the post.
Where it goes
wp="post-author" goes on the element with the name, wp="post-author-link" on an <a> link: its href gets the address of the author’s page.
On single.html and inside a card of a wp-query list.
Example: a byline under the title
Markup single.html
<main class="post" wp="post">
<h1 wp="post-title">New autumn menu</h1>
<p class="post__by">By
<a href="#" wp="post-author-link"><span wp="post-author">Anna</span></a></p>
</main>In the admin Users → Profile
Author Anna Kowalski
Display name publicly as Anna Kowalski
On the site post page
New autumn menu
By Anna Kowalski
The name is what the profile’s “Display name publicly as” field says.
What matters
- A post’s author is changed in its editor, in the Author box.
- The author’s page is an ordinary WordPress archive with all their posts.
Alternative spelling
wp="post_author" works the same: the build gives an identical theme.
