Longer text with line breaks

fld-area="Field name"

A multi-line text field: for a lead paragraph, an address or a short description. Line breaks the client types become line breaks on the site.

Where it goes

On a paragraph or an <address>: an element that holds plain text without headings and lists inside.

In the admin it is a larger text box. No bold and no links: if the client needs formatting, use fld-editor.

The field appears in the admin only if the page has a group name: wp-fields-group on its <body>.

Example: the lead of the Menu page

Markup menu.html
<p class="lead" fld-area="Lead">Espresso runs on our “Warm” blend:
  Brazil and Ethiopia, medium roast.</p>
In the admin Pages → Menu
Lead Espresso runs on our “Warm” blend: Brazil and Ethiopia, medium roast.
On the site the menu page
Menu

Espresso runs on our “Warm” blend:

Brazil and Ethiopia, medium roast.

What matters

  • Each new line in the admin becomes a line break on the site.
  • Like fld-text, the field replaces everything inside the element.
  • A name used for a text field and an area field in one group is a collision: give them different names.

Common mistakes

The build log is the “Logs” tab of your project on themeforge.pro; the free markup check shows the same notes.

Not like this
<p fld-text="Intro">Open every day.</p>
<p fld-area="Intro">Breakfast until noon.</p>

Two fields of different types with one name: the build log reports a collision, and both elements show the first field.

Like this
<p fld-text="Intro">Open every day.</p>
<p fld-area="Intro details">Breakfast until noon.</p>

Different names: “Intro” and “Intro details”.

The same in site settings or on a category

opt-areain site settings, such as a footer description
tax-areaon a category or tag
Alternative spelling

f_area, o_area, t_area works the same: the build gives an identical theme.
